A Message from the PTA

Happy Wednesday, Hillside Families!

Students will be celebrating Read Across America Day within their classrooms on Thursday.  One way they will be celebrating is with Pajama Day!  We hope students and staff enjoy all that Hillside's Read Across America Day committee has planned! As always, feel free to reach out if there is anything we can help you with.

International Family Fun Night

Our 15th annual International Family Fun Night will be held on Friday, March 24th from 6:00-7:30 pm. As we prepare for this event, we would like to know if you would be interested in participating in an evening of cultural food, music, and dancing.  We are looking for families to prepare food samples to share with our "tourists" traveling around the world. The PTA will supply sample cups, napkins and cutlery if needed! Just bring your food and serve!

We are also looking for families who own traditional dress representative of a country/culture to participate in a fashion show.

Are you interested in performing that evening? We need you!

Sign up today!

Wellness Room

As a PTA, we are always looking for small ways in which we can support the teachers and staff at Hillside. The school has created space to have a Wellness Room for the staff and we would like to regularly stock it with grab and go snacks. If you are interested in helping out, please sign up below. There will be bins outside the front doors of the school for drop off.  Please drop items off by noon on Friday, March 3rd.

Students will receive a math sheet to complete while walking around the store and will get a small prize when they are done.

*Please note, a parent or guardian must stay. This is not a drop off event.*

Help us Celebrate the Power in our Differences!

Exceptional Children's week is a time we come together to acknowledge and celebrate students with exceptionalities.  We encourage you to dress up to join in the fun! In addition, all week long we will be doing a donation drive to help build up some needed sensory materials that benefit all our students (fidgets, headphones, adapted scissors, etc). Business Partner Spotlight- Sunshine Smiles Dentistry

Sunshine Smiles Dentistry is a local dentist in Roswell, Georgia. February is National Children's Dental Health Month. As part of promoting the benefits of good oral health to children our dentist, Dr. Suvidha Sachdeva, donated an oral health kit to Hillside elementary school in Roswell.

Here are some tips to reduce the risk of tooth decay in children:

  • Monitor beverage consumption – Children should make healthy beverage choices such as water and low-fat milk.
  • Help develop good brushing and flossing habits in children.
  • Schedule regular dental visits.
  • Limit between-meal snacks. If kids crave a snack, offer them nutritious foods.
  • Sugary foods and drinks should be consumed with meals. Saliva production increases during meals and helps neutralize acid production and rinse food particles from the mouth.

You can visit Sunshine Smiles Dentistry online or call at 770-998-8116.
